Kamins       "HARBOR SCENE"  8x8, oil on masonite Signed LL, 2011        I consider myself very fortunate to have traveled extensively and I have always been drawn to towns or villages that are on the water's edge.  This painting simply evolved one day.  I guess it is an amalgam of my experiences; it can be anywhere, any country, and nearly any century.  There's the steeple, and the large then smaller buildings, the wharfs and the boats proudly occupying the waterfront. Provincetown?  Zurich?  Nova Scotia?   The core elements are delightfully similar.                                                                                                                                                       - Helen R. It was painted en plein aire on a June day with questionable weather.  I started the painting with nice, sunny conditions.  Then dark clouds emerged and I even heard thunder in the distance.  A car pulled-up next to my easel and I was thinking that they might be interested in purchasing the painting.  Instead, the gentleman driving the vehicle lowered his window and shouted ‘don't you know there's a thunderstorm coming?'  I thought to myself: well my van is right over there and I can jump into it at any moment.  But rather than vocalizing my thoughts, I turned to this conscientious person and thanked him for the information.                                                                                                                                                                    - Helen R.
